The last official peer-reviewed list of New Zealand threatened and uncommon vascular plants was published in the New Zealand Journal of Botany during March 2004. With each listing comes a renewed sense of commitment from professional and amateur botanist alike to get out there, and improve on our level of knowledge.

This extensive review is part of a wider approach aimed at raising awareness of and involvement in plant conservation.

This years conference will be the Cheeseman Symposium 2006 – to celebrate the centenary of the publication of the first full flora treatment by a resident New Zealand botanist, Thomas F. Cheeseman’s Manual of the New Zealand Flora (1906). This will take place from Monday 20th –Wednesday 22nd November 2006 at the University of Auckland.
