In the latest issue of the New Zealand Journal of Botany a new, probably seriously threatened "scree" buttercup Ranunculus acraeus has been described from the northern Otago and south Canterbury mountains. Further a new combination, R. pilferus is made for another "scree" buttercup long known as R. haastii subsp. piliferus
