On the moraine on the South foreshore reserve area of Lake Hawea. Quite and old plant by the looks of it up to about one m. high spreading two m. across.
Possibly C.elatirioides,hopefully someone else can help with this ID as well.It looks about right for this species though.
Another possibility is a stunted C.rugosa too.
Hi Helen, John, it looks like C. pseudocuneata based on fruit colour and leaf shape, though this is usually a shrub. If you ahve a piece of the plant the Coprosma key on the Landcare Website is very useful.
Thanks very much for these suggestions I will have another look at it. There are smaller versions not far away dotted around the reserve. I will try the landcare website......if anyone is over this way I am happy to show you. P.S.I am a big fan of the site it is a great help. Helen
