  1. Pittosporum cornifolium

  2. Hello
what is the Pittosporum cornifolium with profuse yellow flowers in the spring, Is that the off shore type? looks like a vigorous vireya.

  3. Hi Jon, have you got a photo by chance that shows the plant your are talking about?

  4. Hi Jon,
That is almost certainly the Poor Knights Islands form. That has yellow flowers and larger, deep green leaves, and a denser growth habit than other forms (which looks like a vigorous, deep green vireya).

  5. Philip Smith is correct - that race is an undescribed species allied to P. cornifolium

  6. That's interesting that it's an undescribed species, Peter, which makes a lot of sense to me. That plant exhibits greater differences from typical Pittosporum cornifolium than the kinds of distinctions that mark many other species from each other.

  7. Yes Dr Chrissen Gemmill (University of Waikato) had a student working on it. Last I heard a draft paper describing it had been written but I have not heard whether it was submitted (when I asked last October it still hadn't).
