  1. Help with Pimelea ID please

  2. Hi Folks, I think I have two types of Pimelea here. The first two photo's I think are P. aridula, and the last three are P. prostrata ssp. prostrata. Any help, corrections and comments would be greatly appreciated. They appear correct to descriptions but I have been corrected before. Cheers

  7. Hi Matt, where were the plants? The first ones look like what used to be called P. arenaria "southern" (now part of P. villosa - which needs redefining). The other might be P. cryptica

  8. Hi Mike, they were both on Mana Island, the first lot(2) were growing on an exposed bank beside a track, and actually looked natural (maybe not mind you), no records of P. villosa of any type being planted on the Island. The second 3 were growing on the Western cliff tops of the Island and were definitely not planted. Does that help.. if they are what you suggest both are new to the Island. cheers

  9. Thanks Matt, the first 2 are either P. villosa or the same Pimelea as occurs on Pipinui Point (Burrows considered it a hybrid between P. oreophila and P. pseudolyallii - neither of which occur in the area and it is likely something distinct). The others are likely to be P. cryptica based on what look like a few hairs on the leaf tip underside. Collecting material and looking at it closely will be necessary to confirm this.

  10. Thanks Mike, the first two could be planted in that case, there are records of specimens being planted, sorced from Pipinui point which would fit well with what you are suggesting. I will collect some material from the latter plants, if I get the chance and permission when I next visit for a follow up. Thanks very much for your help!!
