  1. Edelweiss

  2. I am a keen tramper and amateur botanist, I live in Queenstown.
We have plenty of Leucogenes grandiceps around us here, but I am keen to see some of our other edelweiss species.
Do you have any information on the easy access locations of:
Tarahaoa (where in the Mt Peel Reserve?)
    Neglecta (where in Marlborough?)
    Leontopodium

Any information you could pass on to me would be most appreciated.

  3. Leucogenes tarahaoa is a threatened species - you are best to contact the Department of Conservation at Geraldine for information on that plant.

For the other two species - they are in the north-eastern South Island - try asking Shannel Courtney (scourtney@doc.govt.nz) or Jan Clayton-Green (jclaytongreen@doc.govt.nz) for information on where to see them.

If in the North Island - a walk up Mt Holdsworth, Tararua Ranges will show you L. leontopodium easily enough.

  4. Thanks Peter, much appreciated. This will be helpful
