  1. Myosotis

  2. Hi, can someone please help me with identifying this Myosotis? I am guessing maybe spathulata but would like confirmation. Thanks.

  3. Sadly there is not enough information in this image for an accurate identification to be made. Your plant may be M. spathulata but it could also be M. matthewsii or M. forsteri - or indeed several other species. Where was the plant photographed? -The image and associated liverwort (Heterocyphus) suggests it was a wet site. Myosotis matthewsii is a northern North Island endemic but M. spathulata is wide ranging and very variable. Other people - like Mike Thorsen - may have a better idea on this one - as Myosotis are not my specialty.

  4. Hi Sonya, not M. spathulata or M. matthewsii. Damp site and leaf shape and developing inflorescence would make me think M. forsteri, but if it was found in the central north Island then M. venosa is also a possibility. Where was the photo taken?

  5. Hi, Thanks Mike and Peter; It was in a damp seep/streamlet in forest up Dog stream, Hanmer.

  6. Then it is Myosotis forsteri. A widespread species but big distances between populations and usually not in large numbers at any site
