  1. Kowhai flowering

    Hi everyone, I was wandering whether the Kowhai in other parts of the country are flowering as full on as they are in the Wellington Region. Every where I go there are trees absolutely covered in blooms, so much so I have noticed some specimens for the first time in particular locations. Are any other parts of the country experiencing this? Cheers Matt

    I'm just back from a weekend in North Otago and South Canterbury and saw the same there; kowhai absolutely covered in flowers.

    A couple of weeks ago some remnant forest/ grove of Kowhai were flowering prolifically just south of Dunedin on the hills to the East of SH1, not far from the airport.

    Lots of flowering on East Cape, but variation in timing with some trees in full bloom and others still in bud

    Only just starting to flower fully in my garden here in western Southland
