  1. Griselinia lucida

  2. Is the Meryta sinclairii and the Griselinia Lucinda the same plant

  3. No they are quite different plants, although they have similar maori names. In botany the scientific names are the correct ones to use to name a plant.

For instance in New Zealand there are about 9 DIFFERENT species all called rata, they all have the Generic name of Metrosideros (like their surname) but different specific (first) names; like Metrosideros robusta -northern rata, Metrosideros fulgens - orange flowered rata, Metrosideros diffusa - one of the white-flowered rata etc.
These two puka species are not closely related because they don't share the same Generic name (surname).

  4. Meryta sinclairii is a small tree bearing very large glossy wavy leaves inhabiting the three Kings Islands (but common in cultivation and introduced to the Hen and Chickens Islands). http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=585

Griselinia lucinda is a large woody vine with a rough dark grooved trunk and bearing thick glossy green rounded leaves that are paler underneath and with a noticeably uneven base.
