    The NZ network says Machaerina juncea is " rush like' - is this a true rush?
    This will be planted by the new Kopu bridge, Thames.

    No, Machearina is a sedge (in the Cyperaceae family). Rushes belong to the Juncaceae. It should make an attractive garden plant
