  1. Juvenile liane at Rotokare, Taranaki ID?

  2. OK.. I'm assuming this is a Metrosideros something-or-other but my assumptions have been well off target in the past so I'm not afraid to ask. Help please?

  3. A close up of same.

  4. Hi Graeme Metrosideros certainly - and from the little foliage I can see there its most likely M. colensoi - where were you?

  5. Thanks. Rotokare reserve, South Taranaki. Masses of passiflora with some hefty trunks. Also lots of Lophomyrtus bullata. Bonus saddlebacks and hihi. It's a great place.

  6. Awesome - no myrtle rust yet on Lophomyrtus then? Based on geography and your second image which shows foliage I would confirm Metrosideros colensoi. The only other contender M. diffusa doesn't have leaves like that - this is Metrosideros colensoi https://http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/1551500

  7. I did have a good look at the L.bullata on offer trackside for rust. None seen.
