    What's the optimum flowering time and how far north are they found?

    Lawrie Metcalf in 'The Cultivation of New Zealand Plants' (1993, Godwit) says flowering in the wild from November to January, in cultivation from November to December. Found about and west of the Main Divide from Mount Buckland near Westport southwards. Rare on Stewart Island.

    There is also a small population established on Mt Ruapehu (North Island). Undoubtedly planted.
