My husband planted around 400 west coast Nikau seeds around 3 months ago (after sprouting them in bags etc). They were doing really well with around 8cm growth but a few days ago we found them all pulled out and the seeds stockpiled/eaten and the shoots and roots intact. We are thinking it is rats? Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks
I know rats (and possums) eat them while still on the tree, and rats will eat any fallen fruit also. Not sure about rats pulling seedlings out, but could happen I suppose.
