  1. Zantedeschia aethiopica cv. Green Goddess

  2. Is the common large arum lily with a white flower of the same scientific name as above also regarded as a weed? I notice it is quite common on sides of the road or in paddocks. Or is it the same 'green goddess' as above. I am a little confused.

  3. The white arum is the 'original' plant and cv. Green Goddess is a cultivar which I presume arose in cultivation and which has been selected for its differences from the parent plant. Some cultivars breed true but apparently most do not. Both are weeds and will tolerate a wide range of habitat, including dry shade. In that situation they die back in summer. The central yellow bit is the flower and is mildly poisonous. (botanists please correct any errors!)

  4. Thanks very much for the information. It has answered my question perfectly. I will carry on weeding.
    Cheers.
