    something for scale would be helpful and a photo of the whole plant. I suspect prickly mingimingi Leptocophylla juniperina http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=925
    or regular mingimingi Leucopogon fasciculatus http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=925
