Is this particular breed a native of the northern palmerston north area. I ask because we are on clay whee we live and i want to plant this or similar for the tuis we have in the area.

Sophora microphylla is indeed native to your area and you should have no problem planting it in the habitat you describe. If you can I recommend that you collect seed from local, wild (native) established plants rather than purchase from nurseries Unless you are certain that the nurseries truly stock pure S. microphylla)

easy to grow from seed, but only if you damage the seed coat. I use nail clippers at the end further from the point where the seed had been held in the capsule.
