Hi, I was hoping someone could identify this tree that has come down in the last storm. Must have been nearly 8m tall when standing. Haven't cut into it yet so only have a leaf to go by! Many thanks in advance Josh
HI Josh, you photo hasn't uploaded. Try making it smaller - it needs to be less than 500kb to load to this website. Also if you can take a photo of the tree and potentially a branch and how the leaves attach to the branch then we may have more chance of identifying it for you :-)
Sure, my mistake sorry! The tree
Leaf front side
Leaf underside
And the tip of a branch
Andthe tip of a branch again! 502kb sorry >=(
Hi Josh, that looks like a Pittosporum, possibly P. tenuifolium (black kohuhu)
My thoughts as well Mike.
Leaf size (is that a hand in third photo?), shape, venation, leaf scars and location are consistent with mangeao, Litsea calicaris.
