  1. Sicklethorn (Asparagus falcatus)

    How prevalent is sicklethorn, and is it becoming a weed issue in New Zealand? It has only been recorded twice in NZ in naturewatch thus far, but is an emerging environmental weed in Australia. It seems to have the potential to be equally bad (or possibly worse since it is a larger plant) than climbing asparagus.

    We recently found an infestation of the stuff in Lower Hutt - have notified the Council about it

    We can send you a chunk of the plant if you want to lodge it as an herbarium specimen.
