  1. Mercer grass weed problem.

    Rhizomes and thatch 400mm thick in places blanketing wetland area, making it very difficult to establish our swamp shrubland plantings. Location Waiwhareke Natural Heritage Park, Hamilton.
    Keen to hear from anyone with similar problem and how they tackled this weed problem. cheers Ian. (will try to include photos at some point)

    Hi Ian, this is not necessarily Mercer grass but could be the native Isachne globosa http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=2164. A pic of flowers would help ID.

    Thanks Mike, I was back out there and the flower head is the same as Isachne globosa.

    That's good - its an underappreciated native wetland grass
