I found this during a field survey at Boat Harbour, Whenuakite, Coromandel. It's possibly a plectranthus but it doesn't have a strong unpleasant smell. Does anybody recognise it?
And here is another photo.
This is Plectranthus parviflorus which is indigenous to New Zealand. Whenuakite is one of the few places it is known from. This species is widespread in Eastern Australia and aside from New Zealand occurs on the Cook Islands and Hawaii - it is currently being revised and it may well be that our plant ends up with another name
Great, thanks Peter! I'll keep an eye out for the revision results. cheers, Meg
