NZPCN uses Bermuda grass, but the Flora of NZ Vol 5 uses Indian doab, as does 'What grass is that?' A lot of overseas websites, especially ones dealing with lawn grasses, do use Bermuda grass. What is the preferred common name in NZ? Colin
Well my first comment would be fairly bluntly 'Who actually cares?" Having already expressed in Trilepidea a jaundiced view about vernaculars and the idea that one of them should be used in preference to another. Having got that off my chest - I use 'Indian doab' - why? Because that was the common name I was told to use for it over 40 years ago. Maybe this is like 'Wandering Jew' vs 'Wandering Willie' where the PC police have decided that one is anti-Semitic (when its not) and so prefer to use another which is also offensive? I don't know because I don't know what a 'doab' is.,
