Lobelia pedunculata - an Australian species that almost never sets seed in New Zealand (I think we have one clone) but is spreading rapidly vegetatively. It has finely hairy leaves and when it flowers pale blue flowers - see http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/4242490
Thanks, Peter. Yes, the flowers were pale blue, similar to L. ionantha - I had attached a photo of the flowers too but it seems only the leaves appeared on the Forum. Cheers, Kay.
