  1. Anybody know what this plant is?

  2. Had this for about 7 years and this is the first time it has flowered. Growth sort of similar to Kangaroos Paws growing in a shady, windy and dry part of the garden. It is just under 2m tall with sword like tough leaves to about 1m.

  3. HI Ken, somebody may be able to help name this plant for you, but mostly this website and forum is for native to NZ plants. Your plant doesn't look native so we may not be able to help.

  4. Thanks Astrid, it may have been native, but wouldn't know unless asking the question. Fingers crossed eh. I have added another picture.

  5. Aristia probably A. capitata. A very good place to put pix of any living thing on line with a good chance of ID is NatureWatch.

  6. whoops, I meant Aristea

  7. I agree, Mike, that it is an Aristea. Your pic of the whole plant with those broad flat leaves, seemingly without ribs, looks like specimens and photos I sent to CHR in 2005 from a garden in Hawera and which Bill Sykes IDed as A. major.

  8. And the flowers on my plant (I still have it growing in Whanganui from that Hawera garden)
