  1. Olearia - clifftop Gisborne

  2. This was at the top of a cliff in the Gisborne region about 200m asl inland 20km with kowhai, and Phormium cookianum.
Doesnt seem to match anything I can find..

  3. And a scan of some leaves.

  4. Hi Malcolm, looks like an unusually narrow-leaved form of Olearia furfuracea. If it flowers it would be worth collecting a specimen for a herbarium

  5. MIke is correct - that is Olearia furfuracea

  6. Thanks for the info. It is a bit of a walk to get to so I can't just pop back, but I can try to schedule my next visit (in 2 years) to coincide with flowering. I could only see one specimen, but can have a better look to see if it is a one off narrow leaved plant, or whether that is the norm in the area.

  7. Hi Malcolm, I noticed narrow-leaved plants of Olearia furfuracea in various parts of the East Coast (especially in a remnant near East Cape, as I recall). It'd be worth talking to Graeme about it when you see him. He'll be interested in keeping his eyes peeled for them.
