    The attached photo is of a small tree/shrub with leaves that are green on top with smooth margins and an interesting metallic gold/silver colour underneat. There are thorns (not sure if they technically are thorns) on the branches which you can see in the second photo. Any ideas?.

    This is Elaeagnus x reflexa brought in originally as a hedging plant but like so many others now has become a major weed.

    Thanks John, It's in my backyard so I'll remove it
