Hello I was wondering how many kauri trees in New Zealand are recorded? I saw the map with the plots of the trees but I am not sure if there is a way to see how much there are.
Ministry for Primary Industries is currently working with various NZ councils to quantify the number of kauri trees. I don't think that anybody has actually finished counting them as yet.
Ask Dr Peter Bellingham (bellinghamp@landcareresearch.co.nz) as Landcare has gathered this data several years ago and have reasonable estimates
