    Would love to know what species of I presume Hebe. Plant is growing wild on hills in West Waikato (between Port Waikato - Raglan) approx 10km inland.

    Hi Sally - please can you post a larger image or alternatively send to this email address - pdelange@unitec.ac.nz - a larger image? I will then look at it for you. From what I can see here I think this is not a Hebe but a naturalized occurrence of an Escallonia. However, I need a larger image to work with.

    I have seen images - the plant in question is Metrosideros perforata
