Distribution

Known from only Gisborne and Fiordland.

Features

The ascomata, which are deeply immersed within wood, are erumpent, 1.5–5 x 1–2.5 mm, and elliptic to irregular in outline. Most of the ascomatal wall remains covered with host tissue, but some of the brown to dark brown wall becomes exposed near the ascomatal opening. The wall along the edge of the opening is creamy white in colour, and the hymenium is translucent yellow. It is not associated with an anamorph. The ascospores are (26–)31–46 x 6–10 µm, oblong-elliptic, 0–3 septate, hyaline, and surrounded by a 1–2 µm thick gelatinous sheath.

Fruiting

Found on two occassions in May and October.
